Yorkshire Author Gets Moving With Preston Baker
A Leeds grandmother who drew inspiration from being continually stuck in traffic on the motorway surrounded by cones, is upping sticks with the help of Preston Baker.
Chris Madeley created four Cone Friends who help children to learn to live and play safely within parameters based on moral and ethical values. The stories include various areas of safety that need to be emphasised to children, and the series starts with her first book ‘Meet The Cones,’ beautifully illustrated by Yorkshire illustrator Zara Hussein and published in November 2014.
Subsequently, Yorkshire-based Fisher King Publishing has released three more of Chris’ Cones books and Darton-born author Chris says “there are many more titles to come.”
The second publication, Cones Make New Friends, sees the four friends learning all about motorways and how to be safe in a car park. The third book, Cones on the Rails, was launched at the National Railway Museum and commissioned by Grand Central Railway. This book has been nominated and is a Finalist in the UK Rail Industry Awards (Passenger Safety Category).
The latest, entitled ‘Cones and Electricity,’ launched on 3rd December 2016, is backed by Northern Powergrid and, with the help of Vic Voltage, teaches children to be safe around electricity when playing outside.
Chris spends a lot of her time taking the books up and down the country, doing readings and events at schools all over England. All four are available through good bookshops and Amazon.
But, it’s not just a busy time on the page as Chris, and her husband Keith Madeley AKA Mr Yorkshire, are also moving properties. Having lived on Kingsley Road for four years, the couple have decided to further their down-sizing programme thus it was time to move and that’s where we got involved.
It’s been a quick turnaround too, as Chris explained: “The first offer came in within three days and we were selling at the asking price, with no chain, within two weeks.
We’ve been staggered by Preston Baker’s attention to detail and how well you’ve communicated with us as clients. Having moved a few times over the years, previous estate agents haven’t delivered in the same manner as the Headingley branch in Leeds. We would highly recommend the company.
