Talbot Primary School Summer Fair “A Huge Success"
The annual Talbot Primary School summer fair on 16th July was a “huge success” according to PTA chair Adele Forester. With a little help from Preston Baker, the school is counting the money after another excellent year.
Adele said: "The Summer Fair is always a real hit with the children and this year was no exception. It’s an occasion for the whole community to enjoy and is brilliant for bringing families together to all have a great time and in the process raise valuable funds for the school.
"This year the fair had an Olympic theme, hosting the Talbot Games. From the torch relay opening ceremony to the the rowing challenge there were lots of stalls and activities to keep everyone entertained. The fair raised £9000 and the support we receive from Preston Baker makes a big difference to our fundraising.
"This year we hope to use the money to improve the outdoor spaces and enhance the children's learning through outdoor play."
On the day, we had 11 boards around the fair and board slips displaying ‘Talbot Games’ as single letters on each board to make up a puzzle for the school children to complete as part of a local challenge and promote the fair and the winner won a Kindle donated by Preston Baker.
These boards were up in peoples gardens, who are volunteers at the school, and the competition was a huge success with plenty of children taking part. On top of the prize we gave a cash donation of £330.
Headteacher, Parm Gill, enjoyed the day too and said: "Thanks to the efforts of the dedicated PTA team and generous parents and carers of our community, the fair has raised a phenomenal amount!
"It was a fantastic day for all, made all the better because of the support of local community businesses and organisations."
