Our Commitment to Local Communities

Posted 27/07/2014

“One of the greatest pleasures I get from my role as Senior Director at Preston Baker is my responsibility for supporting the communities we work in. I've run and skydived for charity, and find it hugely satisfying to support events such as the Hemingbrough Primary School Summer Fair, the Leeds Family Run for Fun, the Doncaster Schools Drawing Competition and the Active York Sports Awards. As a company, we have an ongoing commitment to be part of the communities in which we work.”

If you have an event coming up, we’d like to hear about it. Our staff and management try to support local community activities whenever possible. Send us an email to info@prestonbaker.co.uk to tell us all about what you are planning.

Draw the house of the future competition - Doncaster

Preston Baker organised this competition with Auckley Primary School and St Oswalds Academy in Doncaster. Winners announced in July and you will be able to see the winning entries at our VIP website www.prestonbakervip.co.uk. Participating schools will receive a donation to school funds.

Hemingbrough Summer Fair

Preston Baker are proud to be one of the sponsors for the third year running for this fun family day that raises funds to support Heminbrough Primary School. As before, we are providing the prizes for the fancy dress competition, always one of the highlights of the event.

The Summer Fair is organised by the ‘FAN Club’, friends and neighbours of the school, who last year raised £6000, which went towards new sports kit, a forensic science day and the conversion of the Sunshine Room into a new library, among other projects

Active York Sports Awards 2014

Preston Baker were very proud to sponsor the Young Disabled Sportsperson of the Year Award for this special event. The winner was para-climber Sianagh Gallagher, who was also named overall Sports-person of the Year at the awards ceremony held in April.

Senior Director James Baker attended the gala to present Sianagh with her trophy. This was the inaugural awards event for the Active York initiative, and our congratulations to all the York sportspeople honoured.

Leeds Family Run for Fun

Preston Baker were proud to be one of the sponsors of the 8th annual ‘Run for Fun’ event held in beautiful Roundhay Park. The 1k and 5k runs for Leeds school children was a family event for Preston Baker’s Managing Director Ian Preston, who ran with his wife Claire, baby Hugo, son Ethan and  daughters Talia, Mia and Sienna.

The damp but fun day raised more than £7,000 for participating schools, to help support extra-curricular activities and to provide additional equipment. Well done to all the children who raised so much through sponsorship!
