Celebrating Oakwood Day 2016
Another year, another bigger and better event at Oakwood Clock for the annual celebration of this Leeds suburb.
The sun came out to play at the home of one of our most popular branches as adults and children alike enjoyed the wonderful weather, exciting programme and variety of stalls on Saturday 7th May.
Organised, as ever, by the dedicated OTRA (Oakwood Traders and Residents Association), big crowds came out to get involved in this year's recycling/upcycling themed event - a year on from the 2015 day that celebrated the end of the Clock's restoration.
It was a bigger programme than last time with a packed centre stage of excellent local bands like Al Bampton, Blue Sharks, Rhythm Aire and Tasha Lawes as well as tasty treats like Tasty BBQ, Yummy Yank cake, Northern Bloc ice cream, Yorkshire Pizza Company and Nachos Amigo.
Younger audiences were kept entertained with seed planting, Lego, music-making and hula hoop workshops while stands from Preston and Stew and Oyster provided the alcoholic refreshments for mums and dads to on the grass with picnic blankets and chairs.
Jackrabbits Pottery offered the unique retail option with furniture, jewellery, flowers and gifts.
Saturday 21st May sees the next event at Oakwood Clock with the first Farmers Market of 2016 running from 9am to 12.30pm with a number of stalls and special guests.
