25.83 Miles: The Average Distance Moved By UK Home Owners

Posted 27/03/2017

New research from the Royal Mail has shown that the average person moving home, relocates to less than a marathon length away from their current home.

After analysing more than a million Redirection applications across the course of September 2015 to September 2016, they were able to create a home move map of the UK to show the habits of our nation when buying a home.

According to the results, North West residents stay closest to their previous property, moving just 19.17 miles while Scottish home movers travel some 55.34 miles to a new home on average.

Unsurprisingly, London and the South East had the highest number of moves – Croydon and Wimbledon topping the list. So, where does Yorkshire fit in? Here's a look at movements out of some of our major areas.
