Copmanthorpe is a sought after village location with gorgeous traditional and modern homes. Just 15 minutes to York city centre, or half an hour to Leeds, it boasts great transport links, a local school and is in shooting distance of many facilities and amenities.

THINGS TO DO

Around Copmanthorpe there are many walks in the countryside to various other villages in the area - find them on the parish council website. In the village there's a sport and community centre and Pike Hills Golf Club is also in the vicinity. York Racecourse and the Designer Outlet are a short drive away.

EATING & DRINKING

The Royal Oak is the local pub and the Pike Hills Golf Club also has a bar. There is also the Sizzling Plate Indian restaurant and takeaways for kebabs, pizza, Indian and more. In neighbouring villages there are more options including a giraffe on Tadcaster Road.

SHOPPING

There is a Londis convenience store, post office, two hair salons, a barber's, pharmacy and a couple of independent food shops. Across the A64, Foxwood is home to a Tesco superstore and the York Designer Outlet is just a few minutes drive away.

SCHOOLS

Copmanthorpe Primary School is in the village and most pupils go to Tadcaster Grammar School for secondary education.

TRANSPORT LINKS

Four miles south west of York, Copmanthorpe is just a regular bus journey or 15 minute drive from the city centre. Off the A64 Leeds to Scarborough road, it is half an hour to Leeds, which is also home to the closest airport - Leeds Bradford International.

HISTORY

The York to Tadcaster Roman road is found to the north of the village and, in Anglo-Saxon times, Copmanthorpe Manor was owned by someone called Gospatrick. It then passed through the Vavasour and Wood families. In more recent history, there was an airfield here during the First World War - along with a war hospital.
