About Badger Hill

Part of the Heslington area of York, Badger Hill is ideally located for easy access to and from the city. With great public transport, spacious homes, a number of amenities and local schools, it is popular with families.

THINGS TO DO

Next to the University is the David Lloyd gym and Fulford has a golf course. Derwent Valley Light Railway is in neighbouring Murton and it is easy to get to a number of other places including the Howardian Hills, Stamford Bridge and the Yorkshire coast.

EATING & DRINKING

The Black Bull Hotel on York Road is part of the sizzling pubs chain. The Deramore Arms is another in the area and further down Hull Road is a Pizza Hut delivery, Harpers fish and chip shop and Indian takeaway. You are only minutes from the city centre for a wider selection.

SHOPPING

Badger Hill has a bakery, butchers, hairdressers, newsagents, pharmacy and fish shop. York Designer Outlet is just a 15 minute drive and the city centre has all the national high street brands.

SCHOOLS

Badger Hill has a primary school and Archbishop Holgate's School is also in the estate.

TRANSPORT LINKS

Off the A1079 Hull Road, you are just a few minutes from York city centre. Going the other way, you can get to the A64 ring road on the way out of the city. This allows you to get the Yorkshire Moors and coast easily as well joining up with roads to Harrogate and Leeds.

HISTORY

Mentioned in the Domesday Book, this part of York was rural until the 1960s when housing developments began to appear. Since 1969, the whole area has been a conservation area, it is home to the University of York and has residents from scholars to city professionals.
