HISTORY

Colonel Frederick Trench-Gascoigne owned Parlington Hall in Aberford and owned the land in Scholes, which he began to rent out in the 1800s. At the end of this century, Isaac Chippindale began the Scholes Brick and Tile Works, and this was a quarry that sold bricks to the surround area. It lasted until the 1980s, and the quarry is home to two fishing lakes now in this desirable dormitory village.
