About Halton

Halton is a suburb of Leeds with a professional community and a number of beautiful semi-detached and detached properties. Popular with families, there are amenities, great schools and developed transport links at your doorstep.

Primrose Valley Park is the place for dog walking, family picnics and children playtime. The huge open area is at the heart of Halton and much loved by its residents. There is also Templenewsam Park to the south. On top of this, Temple Newsam Park Golf Course is on your doorstep, Leeds and York are close and the gorgeous countryside and coastline of North Yorkshire are a short drive.

Along Selby Road there are a variety of takeaways so you are in shooting distance of fish & chips, Indian and Chinese food. For a meal out, take a look at Moreno's Restaurant & Tapas Bar, the Spice House Indian and The Brown Cow pub that has a Thai restaurant inside. Popular pubs in the area include The Leodis, Woodman pub and the Wykebeck Arms.

On the high street, you have a Matalan, Hobsons DIY store, a barbers, a betting shop as well as Lidl, Tesco Express and Fultons supermarkets. The closest superstore is Asda Killingbeck on York Road. For more of a shopping spree, Leeds city centre is only a bus ride away.

There are a couple of options for primary and secondary education in Halton, these are:

Whitkirk Primary School
Templenewsam Halton Primary School

A quick 15 minute drive to the centre of Leeds, Halton is perfectly positioned for commuters to the city. It's also close to the M1 and M62 for motorway links around the country and to the Moors. The closest train station is at Crossgates and Leeds Bradford International Airport is just over half an hour away.

First developed off the main road between Leeds and Selby, it was until after the Second World War that Halton became a large suburb of Leeds. The St Wilfrid's Church was built in 1939 and is a grade II listed building. Today, Halton is popular with parents who commute to the city.

Halton was the birthplace to the world title winning women's cyclist Beryl Burton and English Speaking Board founder Christabel Burniston.
