We have found that individuals looking to join our organisation from an existing estate agency background sometimes do not have the right level of knowledge, experience, dedication or work ethic. 

What do you do when the estate agency market isn't creating exceptional individuals to add to your team? You create a training academy to train people from the ground up.

Our aim here isn't to create estate agents, financial advisers or property managers. Our aim is to create the BEST estate agents, financial advisers, and property managers.  

You will have the opportunity to specialise in one of the following four disciplines: 

  • Residential Agency (sales and valuation)
  • Mortgage Advice
  • Land
  • Property investment (buy to let)

Our training academy is not for the faint of heart. It will be twelve months of rigorous training, designed to forge you not only into the best estate agent, financial adviser or property manager; but also into a more driven, focused and confident individual. 

If you exit the academy successfully, you will have skills that last a lifetime and experience that makes you an asset for Preston Baker or anyone you choose to work for in the future.

Academy Application Documentation

Seeking talented budding sales people who are looking to start a career path in Estate Agency, Lettings, Financial Services or Land & New Homes

Salary £up to 24k basic salary + benefits

Starting salary at £20k+ benefits
Passing first 6 months’ salary increase to £22k
Graduating from the Academy stage £24k

The Role

Preston Baker was awarded the Best Training and Development title as a company within our industry at the last Sunday Times Estate Agency of the Year Awards.  We are looking to give the opportunity of a structured career path into our varied industry that will result within 12 months in you taking on a full time role specialising in one of the following areas:

  • Residential Agency (sales and valuation)
  • Mortgage Advice
  • Land
  • Property investment (buy to let)

Your Objective

  • You will be allocated one or two of the Preston Baker businesses to secure 80 new properties to sell and 50 new rental properties over your first year.   In addition you will be responsible to generate 160 financial services appointments for the PB mortgage team

'A Day in the Life'

  • You will be trained in how to generate business, primarily using sales skills over the telephone to Preston Baker's existing clients.
  • You will be spending 4 hours of an 9 hour working with your clients to secure the business objectives stated above
  • You will help support branches with holiday cover

The Training Program

First 6 months

  • 8 week initial induction program (1 day per week). The final of which will include a written and oral assessment
  • Online training program to use the industry leading software REAPIT
  • Regulatory Training (classroom based)
  • 3 month performance and course feedback
  • 6 month probationary review, we will assess you performance against the objectives set above and against the company values

Second 6 months - Specialising into your preferred route including

  • 1 day per week working in a branch or field based branch activities
  • Further monthly training in your specialist area including
    • Residential Agency (sales and valuation
    • Sales Progression
    • Offer Negotiation
    • Face-to-face home visits
    • Marketing tactics and strategies
    • Branch based systems and reporting

    • The Mortgage Process
    • Becoming a successful adviser
    • CEMAP Qualification program
    • Colour Works and Neuro-linguistic programming
  • Preston Baker Elite Listing Program
    • Our in house program on successfully listing houses
  • Property Investment
    • Understanding the buy to let market
  • Land
    • How to source, secure and execute Land transactions

 Entry requirements

  • All applicants should be educated to Further Education level at either sixth form, college, university, or completed NVQ programs.
  • To have passed at least 7 GCSE’s at grade 5 (C) or above including Maths and English
  • Have a full UK driving license
